Spring CSA Signup letter from Chef Trimm

CSA_logoWe are excited to announce the sign up for our Spring CSA! For those of you that joined us in the Fall, we hope you enjoyed it and are looking forward to this Spring’s vegetables. For those of you that are first time Sweet Grass CSA members, welcome!
The late Fall and Winter was a perfect time to launch our CSA on a small scale, which allowed us to connect with more artisans and assess the quality and quantities of the produce and goods that fill the bags. This Spring, with more farmers on board, and all of our original farmers back in the mix, we will be offering a much wider range of fruits and vegetables, as well as more charcuterie, sauces, pickles and accoutrement created in the Sweet Grass kitchen. We got a lot of feedback about how that was the most unique part of what we offered, and we want to make sure everyone gets the most out of the membership.

 

We estimate the goods in your weekly bag to be over $100 worth of food from your nearby premium grocery store. Feedback from the Fall and Winter sessions actually showed that customers felt they had too much in the bag! While this is not necessarily a bad problem to have, we want to make sure that your bag is useful and not wasteful. We are going to offer two bags, a small bag ($45/week) and a larger bag that would feed a family of 4 ($55/week). This will allow you to decide what better fits your household needs.
With those changes and improvements, we have also decided to change the name from Community Supported Agriculture to Chef Supported Agriculture, which better defines our mission and goals.

 

This Spring’s CSA will run for 9 weeks, from April 15th – June 10th. As always, pick ups will be on Wednesday afternoons from 3-9pm at Sweet Grass or Next Door. Like before, you will receive 10% off of your food and drink on Wednesday’s when you pick up your bag. In addition, we have teamed up with the Wine Market on Spottswood in East Memphis to do a series of wine dinners over the course of the year and are offering a 10% discount off purchase of two tickets to any of them. They are each three courses with at least 5 wines and are loads of fun.

 

This Fall we will also host a harvest dinner using the product from all of our farmers. To show our gratitude to year-long members, meaning all four seasons, two tickets to this event will be on us.
